The ideal treatment outcome of periodontal therapy is to regenerate the supporting structures of the teeth.  With the increasing prevalence of peri-implantitis, guided tissue regeneration principles are also being used to treat peri-implant disease.  This lecture will review the basic principles of periodontal guided tissue regeneration, including an overview of techniques and materials for both tooth and implant applications.  Participants will leave with an understanding of the most current evidence-based treatment recommendations for guided tissue regeneration.  Emerging techniques and translational research to support new developments in the field will also be presented.
